Mission: Possible - a guide to organizing missions and evangelistic activities ... with a little forethought!Aimed at church leaders and those with responsibility for organising outreach, this book takes your through the whole planning and preparation process. As it was published in 1990 various developments since then such as the Alpha Course are not covered, however the principles still apply today. John Buckeridge (Editor of Christianity Magazine) wrote: "Mission: Possible is an excellent, highly practical paperback. Aimed at helping the whole church gear up to a mission, it has many helpful exercises and examples to help you prepare a small scale evangelistic event up to a major youth or all-age mission." Roy Crowne (National Director of Youth For Christ) adds: "This book provides a step-by-step approach to putting ideas in motion. It is essential reading for those committed to effective evangelism." Re-imagining the Covenant Community: The Church Meeting and Baptist Congregational Life. This Masters dissertation examines what has long been viewed as the essence of Baptist church life: the church meeting. It explores whether church meetings truly reflect teh covenant community envisaged by the early Baptists from both an historical and contemporary perspective. It includes the results of original research into 19th century church records showing how meetings changed, becoming far more procedural and thus more susceptible to conflict and abuse. The dissertation also analyses the current state of the church meeting and assesses alternative methods of church governance, notably consensus and 'ministry-led, accountable leadership' models. Vital reading for ministers and leaders of Baptist churches, you can be downloaded the full dissertation as a pdf document (you will need Adobe Reader to view) by clicking here. |
